Mike Davis - Board Member

Mike Davis identifies, develops and sustains strategic partnerships that will enable the NC Sustainable Energy Association, its members and its stakeholders to grow clean energy opportunities throughout the North Carolina and the Southeast region. Mike educates our diverse stakeholder base on NCSEA’s mission, current priorities and initiatives, and looks for ways to build and strengthen collaboration with existing and potential members, business leaders, key stakeholders and professional/community organizations.
In addition to clean energy, Mike has expertise in sustainable building, urban development and historic preservation. Prior to joining NCSEA, he managed Charlotte operations for Southern Energy Management and the Conformity Corporation.
Mike has served on the UNC Solar Decathlon Steering Committee, USGBC NC’s Legislative Advocacy Committee, the Advisory Committee of the CPCC Sustainability Program, the CCOG “Connect Our Future” Energy Subcommittee, the Sustainability Committee for Habitat for Humanity Charlotte and the Board of Directors of the NC Building Performance Association.
Mike holds a Masters of Media from USC and a B.A. in Political Science from Winthrop. He is an accredited USGBC LEED® professional, an NC Licensed General Contractor and an NC Licensed Real Estate Broker.

I have been a real estate broker since 2000 and currently own Grapevine Realty Services based in Chatham County. I have been a member and Marketing Committee member for the Pittsboro Business Association since 2014. I am currently on the Board of Directors for the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors, on the Town of Pittsboro Board of Adjustment and work part-time at the Chatham County Council on Aging and a member of the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce. I grew up in Charlotte and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1991 with a BA in Journalism. I have two kids, three cats and dog….I’m good at management! Jim Kirby, Vice President, is a licensed architect in North Carolina (NC-9936), South Carolina (SC-7092), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C 2005) and holds a Certificate with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB #59722). Jim is a member of the US Green Building Council North Carolina Chapter (USGBC-NC).
Jim’s career spans 28 years ranging from small residential additions to international development project design and management. Environmental building design is Jim’s passion and he is currently providing architectural and green building consulting services for clients in the Carolina's and Virginia.
Jim provides information presentations on building and living green to a variety of organizations including Charlotte Small Business Opportunity Program's SOAR workshop on "Greening Your Small Business, "Queens University Interior Design class on the role that interior designers play for environmental design, and Mecklenburg County's Green Team on "Green Your Home".

Meghan McDermott - Board Member

Meghan McDermott is an Architectural Engineer, one of the owners and serves as the Business Manager for High Performance Building Solutions. She conducts energy and building enclosure assessments, whole building energy modeling, energy conservation savings calculations and building diagnostics. She is a qualified Level II Thermographer for buildings/roofs and electrical applications and is a contributing author to the US Army Corps of Engineers protocol for air leakage testing. She is certified through the Building Performance Institute, Inc. for Building Analyst and Envelope. Ms. McDermott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Energy.
