We are seeking full-time New Market Managers to extend SEM’s reach into new geographic territories. Based in one of three new markets for our company, the New Market Manager is responsible for leading business development and operations in a new service territory, making this a great opportunity for an entrepreneurially minded individual. Duties:

• Participate in creation of budget and final plan for new market.
• Meet or exceed weekly/monthly sales targets
• Perform outside/inside sales calls for both company and self-generated leads
• Educate potential builder clients about energy efficiency options and incentives for programs including: Energy Star, code testing, NAHB Green program, ecoSelect, LEED
• Generate and present proposals
• Manage sales pipeline via Salesforce CRM
• Maintain contact with clients in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include direct sales to builders, developers and their clients, as well as planning and budgeting, building and maintaining a client base, and performing the contracted work via effective coordination and communication with support team at company headquarters.

• Assist in generating marketing plan for new territory, participate in SEM marketing events, including public presentations.
• Field test new buildings for energy efficiency performance factors including whole house air leakage and duct leakage.
• Inspect new buildings for compliance with required energy efficient construction details in framing, insulation, air barrier, and HVAC testing.
• Accurately and expediently enter field collected data using a variety of industry specific software platforms
• Work closely with builders and subcontractors, providing onsite technical assistance with means and methods for achieving specification and certification standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by team leaders
• Travel as necessary

 

Qualifications:

• Experience selling into Residential Building Channels (new home construction, neighborhood development, high end home improvements, etc)
• Building Science training, certifications, and experience are strongly preferred
• Ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating in a team environment
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Familiar with Salesforce or other CRMs
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

NCBPA seeks Quality Assurance Specialist in Raleigh or Charlotte areas

The North Carolina Building Performance Association (NCBPA) seeks a certified Home Energy Rater to serve as the association’s full-time RESNET Quality Assurance Designee (QAD).  The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) can be new to the industry (we will provide required training and certification) or have demonstrated experience in home and building science.  In this role, the Specialist will provide technical assistance, quality assurance, market research and development, and other services to the association’s members and industry at large to support growth and development in North Carolina’s new and existing home and building performance industry.

 

Position Description:

The Specialist will perform field and file quality assurance reviews to support member companies working in a variety of energy efficiency and high performance home and building certification and verification programs including HERS Ratings, Home Energy Score, LEED, ENERGY STAR and more.  Additionally, the Specialist will serve as NCBPA’s technical (building science/performance) resource for questions from members and partners, research into best practices and standards, education and training, and more. 

 

Activities and Responsibilities:

The Specialist will support the development and success of member companies and our industry by:

 

Technical:

  • Collect new and changing technical knowledge and requirements in the industry by attending conferences, participating in webinars and workshops, and performing site visits with members.

  • Perform third party verification and quality assurance activities in support of the certification of new and existing homes and buildings to certification and verification program standards.

  • Serve as a technical advisor to member companies and other stakeholders on the vast majority of certification and verification programs, rebate and incentive, building code, energy code and other standards and requirements in use in North Carolina. 

  • Perform research on building performance topics as requested by member companies or needed by the industry, working with local, state and national partners as necessary to collaborate and partner on findings and reporting.

  • Support the certification and construction of new and existing homes to high performance standards through the processing of plan reviews, quality assurance site visits, and other activities required to support the certification job processes of member companies.

 

Member Services and Education:

  • Educate member companies and other stakeholders on best practices for constructing and upgrading homes and buildings to high performance and energy efficient standards.

  • With partner organizations, train home energy raters, contractors, builders and others on high performance construction in support of NCBPA and industry programs and activities.

  • Obtain all required certifications and credentials needed to lead the industry in knowledge and capability so that member companies and other stakeholders can rely on NCBPA for technical knowledge, consulting and assistance.

 

Outreach:

  • Maintain an active and all-inclusive professional network of stakeholders and resources through on-site meetings, conference attendance, social media engagement and other activities.

  • Develop relationships with staff and leadership of member companies and other stakeholder groups, including product and service providers, to promote members and the industry.

  • Become a member of organizations involved in “green” building and construction and attend networking and other events to show support and demonstrate collaboration.

  • Attend local, state and national conferences, events and workshops in support of becoming an expert in building performance and promoting NCBPA, its members and industry.

  • Recruit member companies to NCBPA by promoting the association’s value at meetings, during quality assurance reviews and in other forums.

Energy Wise Solutions seeks HERS Rater - Certification Specialist in Charlotte Area

Summary:          

Energy Wise Solutions, Inc. has served the Greater Charlotte Area of North and South Carolina since 2005.  We use the latest diagnostic tools, techniques, and building science knowledge to create, test, analyze, and certify energy efficiency in working and living environments.  Specifically, we perform energy code testing, Energy Star and LEED Certification, solar PV installation and repair, home analysis, weatherization, and electric vehicle charging system installation.  We have been Better Business Bureau accredited since 2006.

 

Position:             

Full-time or part-time employment. We are looking for a hands-on individual interested in working in our growing and diverse business. The applicant must have a strong interest in energy efficiency, be willing to learn, have a concern for the environment, and be a team player. Primary responsibilities include performing framing, insulation, and final HERS and Energy Star inspections, developing and submitting energy models using REM Rate, and performing duct leakage and whole house air leakage tests. For the right individual, additional opportunities may include performing home comfort analysis (audits), participating in home weatherization, assisting with the installation of vehicle charging systems, and assisting with solar PV installations and repair. 

 

Requirements:

Certified Home Energy Rater (HERS)

High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Cell phone for communication with office and other personnel

A personal computer for work use

Familiarity with basic Microsoft Office tools i.e. Word and Excel

Ability to read and communicate effectively using the English language

Demonstrate high attention to detail

Aptitude to think through mathematical problems

Must successfully pass a background check.

 

Preferred Qualifications (but not required):

Duct and blower door testing equipment

Some college courses in related field

Experience in construction, home maintenance, and/or energy optimization

Co-ops and Internships Available with NCBPA in Raleigh

NCBPA seeks Co-ops and Interns with experience in residential energy efficiency, renewable energy or home building to provide technical support, market analysis, standards assessments and other services to the association’s staff, Board of Directors, member companies, partners and industry-at-large to support growth and development in North Carolina’s home and building performance industry.

 

The Co-op/Intern will primarily work with NCBPA’s staff to plan, execute and monitor a variety of projects and initiatives focused on assessing and developing North Carolina’s home and building performance industry.  

 

3 and 6 month terms are available now.
